An Italian restaurant search in Thailand can lead to a takeaway pizzeria, a neighbourhood trattoria or a hotel tasting menu. Start with what you want to eat and the area you can reach, then check the restaurant’s current menu and service hours. “Italian near me” is useful for finding candidates; the menu tells you which one fits dinner.
For a casual meal, I would put a manageable journey and the right dishes ahead of a city-wide ranking. For a special dinner, a longer journey may make sense, but only after the restaurant confirms the table and the kind of menu you expect.
Make the search match the meal
Search “Italian restaurant” with your district, beach or nearby landmark. In Chiang Mai, specify the Old City, Nimman or your actual neighbourhood. In Bangkok, use a district or station rather than searching the whole city. In Phuket, distinguish Phuket Town from Patong, Kata, Rawai and other coastal areas.
Then add the dish or format that matters:
- Pizza: look at the crust style, size and whether the restaurant serves whole pizzas or slices.
- Pasta: check the particular dish and sauce. A menu with one spaghetti option is a different proposition from a restaurant specialising in pasta.
- A full Italian dinner: look for starters, pasta or risotto, meat or fish dishes, desserts and the wine list.
- A special occasion: establish whether the restaurant offers à la carte ordering, a fixed menu or a tasting menu, and whether everyone at the table must choose the same format.

These restaurants give you concrete places to investigate in their respective neighbourhoods. Which is convenient depends on where you are staying and the meal you have in mind.
Il Bolognese, Sathorn, Bangkok
Il Bolognese is at 139/3 South Sathorn Soi 7. Its menu draws on Bologna and Emilia-Romagna, with pizza, pasta, meat and seafood. That range makes it worth considering for a group that wants different parts of an Italian menu.
The regular service is 11:30am–2:30pm and 5pm–11pm daily. The afternoon gap matters if you are searching for a late lunch. There are entrances from Sathorn Soi 7 and Narathiwat Soi 7, so check which approach your driver or walking route uses.

Why Not?, Nimman, Chiang Mai
Why Not? Italian Restaurant & Wine Bar is at 14 Nimmanhaemin Soi 11. The combination of handmade pasta, wood-fired pizza, cheese and wine makes it a useful option when you want a sit-down meal in Nimman.
It opens 4pm–11pm on Monday and noon–11pm Tuesday to Sunday. A Monday lunch plan therefore needs another restaurant. Call 092 492 9238 to ask about a table, a particular dish or your dietary requirements.
I would compare this location with the rest of the day’s route. It fits naturally if you are already around Nimman; someone staying across town should first see whether a closer restaurant has the menu they want.
La Gaetana, Phuket Town
La Gaetana is a small Italian restaurant at 352 Phuket Road, Talat Yai, Phuket Town. Its cooking includes southern Italian dishes and house-made pasta. The limited number of tables makes advance contact especially useful.
Call 081 397 1227 to confirm the current service and book. Wednesday is the usual closing day, and holiday closures also occur, so check your date before arranging transport. This is a Phuket Town option: a stay on the west coast involves a separate journey across the island.
Read the menu before judging the price
A quoted pasta price does not describe the cost of a full dinner. Look at what you intend to order, including starters, water, wine and dessert, then check whether service charge and tax are included. If a menu uses “++”, ask for the final amount rather than assuming the displayed figure is the bill.
Check quantities too. Pizza sizes, sharing dishes, tasting menus and meat priced by weight are not directly comparable. For a group, I would agree on whether you are sharing pizzas and starters or ordering separate courses before choosing the restaurant. That makes a budget discussion more useful than a generic “moderately priced” label.
Older photographs may show a discontinued set lunch or promotion. Use them to understand the style of food, then confirm the current menu when a particular offer is the reason for visiting.
Dietary questions to settle before booking
Ask about the actual recipe and preparation. A vegetable risotto may use meat stock; pesto may contain nuts and cheese; fresh pasta may contain egg. Names alone are not enough for a vegetarian, vegan or allergy-related decision.
If gluten avoidance is medically necessary, ask about separate preparation as well as whether gluten-free pasta or dough is available. A substitute ingredient does not establish that shared cooking water, flour, utensils or ovens are suitable. Explain the requirement clearly and choose a restaurant that can answer it.
Do the same for a child who needs a simple dish or a group member who avoids pork or alcohol. It is easier to settle an essential request before arriving than after everyone else has ordered.
Confirm the table or the delivery address
For dining in, send the date, time and party size, then wait for confirmation. Ask about any deposit, cancellation terms, dress expectations or seating preference that affects your plan. Check kitchen closing time if you will arrive late; the restaurant’s closing time does not necessarily mean orders are taken until that moment.
For delivery, put the exact address into GrabFood or LINE MAN and search for Italian food or the restaurant name. Availability depends on your location and the restaurant’s service at that time. Foodpanda’s Thai delivery service ended in May 2025, so it is no longer a current ordering option.
When the aim is a hot pizza at the hotel, I would compare nearby delivery options and their total charges. When the appeal is a particular dining room, wine selection or multi-course meal, book the table and plan the journey. Choosing the right format does more for the evening than finding the highest rating attached to the word “Italian”.
