Food Delivery in Thailand: Find a Restaurant and Get Your Order

Updated September 2026

To find food delivery near you in Thailand, open GrabFood or LINE MAN and set your exact delivery address before searching for a restaurant. The useful list is the one serving that address now. A restaurant can be close on a map yet unavailable for delivery to your building.

I would start with the app you can already use and pay through, then compare another if the choice or total looks poor. Installing every delivery app before ordering dinner adds work without necessarily finding a better meal.

Which apps are worth opening?

GrabFood is a practical starting point if you already have Grab for transport. Select food delivery within the app, check the destination, then browse restaurants or search for a dish. Cash and card payments are supported, although the options available to your account and order are the ones shown at checkout. Where offered, different delivery modes trade a lower charge against a longer wait; check which one you have selected.

LINE MAN is worth comparing for its restaurant selection at your address. An English-speaking visitor need not rule it out because it is a Thai service: it has English menu translation and a chat feature that translates English messages for the driver. Translation makes ordering easier, but an unclear dish description or ingredient request still needs clarification. Payment options include cash and credit or debit cards as well as Thai banking and wallet methods.

ShopeeFood is inside the Shopee app. Look for the food-ordering entry labelled “ShopeeFood สั่งอาหาร”, enter the delivery location and browse the restaurants shown there. This is a useful additional comparison if you already use Shopee or want to check a particular restaurant and voucher. A discount banner alone is not a reason to switch: its conditions and the finished basket matter.

Robinhood is another option in Bangkok and the surrounding area. I would check it for an order in that region, rather than treat it as a national fallback for Chiang Mai, an island or a rural address.

Foodpanda stopped operating in Thailand in May 2025. If that is the service you used on a previous trip, choose one of the operating alternatives above.

Make the order work at your address

Complete the app’s sign-in and verification steps before building a large basket. Use a contact number you can receive messages or calls on during the order. Mobile data is useful for tracking and chat, but having an internet connection does not by itself mean your number can receive a verification code.

Search for the hotel or building, then inspect the pin. Similar property names, multiple entrances and separate condo towers can lead a driver to the wrong place. Put the pin at the entrance the driver can actually reach, and add the building name and collection instructions in the address notes. If you are unsure which entrance deliveries use, ask reception before ordering.

Next check the restaurant branch and order mode. A chain can have several branches with different menus, opening hours and delivery availability. Make sure you are placing a delivery order rather than collecting it yourself. An app being available around the clock does not mean a particular kitchen is open; a listing may be closed, temporarily unavailable or taking advance orders.

Look closely at what the menu item includes. A photograph of a curry beside rice does not settle whether rice is part of that item. Read the description and required choices, then check the basket for the right protein, portion, spice option and extras. For a group, count the meals and sides before payment; duplicated extras and missing staples are easier to fix here than after preparation starts.

Use the restaurant’s menu options for changes where possible. A short note such as “no chilli” is clearer than a long paragraph, but a request is not confirmation that the kitchen can make the change. If an ingredient must be avoided, contact the restaurant and obtain a clear answer. Do not rely on an automatic translation, a food photograph or a delivery note to resolve an allergy question.

Choose a payment method you can actually complete. A Thai bank or QR option appearing on the screen does not mean it will work with every visitor’s account. If a foreign card is rejected, use another available method instead of repeatedly submitting the same order. For cash payment, have enough cash ready and tell the driver in advance if you will need change for a large note.

After submitting, look for the order confirmation and its status in the app. A bank notification alone does not prove that the restaurant has received your meal request: a pending card authorisation can be separate from a completed charge. Check the order history before trying again, so you do not accidentally order dinner twice.

Compare the amount you will actually pay

There is no dependable nationwide answer to “Which delivery app is cheapest?” Menu prices, delivery charges and promotions can all differ. A restaurant’s delivery menu may also cost more than its eat-in menu, so “free delivery” does not automatically make the order a bargain.

For a useful comparison, build the same meal from the same branch, for the same address, at roughly the same time. Include the same rice, drinks and extras. Then compare the final amount after the discount has actually applied. Comparing one app’s menu price with another app’s checkout total tells you very little.

Read the conditions attached to a voucher before adding food to reach its threshold. It may require a minimum spend, a particular restaurant, an eligible payment method or a new customer account. Check the maximum discount too. Spending more on food you do not want can outweigh the saving, and some offers cannot be combined.

At the final screen, inspect the food subtotal, delivery charge, any other fees, discounts and selected tip. Delivery fees can change with demand and conditions, so the amount seen while browsing may not be the amount offered when you return much later. A foreign payment method can also carry an additional charge; include any charge displayed by the app and any relevant cost from your card provider when comparing the real expense.

I would only pay for a delivery subscription after checking the orders I realistically expect to place during its billing period. Count the savings available at restaurants you want to use, with their minimum spends and other restrictions, then subtract the subscription price. A short stay, small individual orders or meals outside the eligible restaurants can make an attractive headline benefit worth very little.

Getting the food to a hotel, condo or villa

Arrange the handoff before the driver arrives. Ask whether reception accepts food, whether you need to meet the driver in the lobby, and which gate or entrance deliveries should use. Do not assume a driver can enter the grounds, pass security or come up to your room.

A useful note identifies the place and the action. For example: “Tower B, main entrance beside reception. I will meet you in the lobby.” Use the details of your own building, and keep them consistent with the map pin. A room number without the correct building or entrance is much less help.

Keep notifications on and check the order’s chat or call screen while it is on the way. If reception has agreed to receive the food, tell them the name attached to the order. If you are meeting the driver, be ready when the arrival notification comes rather than making them search for you.

The displayed arrival time is an estimate. Preparation, rider availability, traffic and weather can affect it. If you are about to leave for the airport or another fixed appointment, an order that might arrive just before departure is a poor bet. A confirmed nearby pickup or food already available where you are staying gives you more control over that deadline.

If the order cannot be completed

No restaurants serve your address: first check that the pin is correct and that you are searching for delivery now. Try another operating app, or use a nearby restaurant’s own contact details to ask whether it can deliver directly. Reception may be able to suggest a local kitchen. Agree the food price, delivery charge, payment and handoff point before confirming a direct order; the app will not be handling that purchase. If delivery is unavailable, pickup is a separate option. Do not enter a false destination merely to get past the app’s coverage limit.

The destination is wrong: use the order’s contact or help function immediately. Explain the correction before the driver travels farther. A message does not guarantee that a new address is within the service area or that the delivery can be redirected without a change in cost. Follow the app’s instructions instead of assuming the note has changed the booked destination.

The order is late: check its actual stage. Waiting for restaurant acceptance, food being prepared and a driver approaching your building are different problems. Use the contact or support option attached to that order to find out what is happening. Avoid placing a replacement until you understand whether the first meal will still arrive and be charged.

You want to cancel: read the cancellation information before confirming. Once the restaurant has accepted or begun preparing the food, cancellation may involve a charge or require support. On LINE MAN, a cancellation after restaurant acceptance needs to be requested through its help service; the outcome depends on the order type and its stage. Do not assume a delayed estimate automatically gives you free cancellation.

Food is missing, incorrect or in poor condition: keep the order details and photograph the food, packaging and receipt while the problem is clear. Report it through that order’s help screen, identifying the affected items. LINE MAN asks for these problems to be reported within three hours: open the order in your history, choose “Contact us”, enter the Help Center and select the incorrect or incomplete order issue. Submit the requested information promptly. A report starts a review; it is not a promise of an immediate refund.

If you need packaged food or ingredients rather than a cooked meal, use the guide to finding grocery stores in Thailand for that separate search.
